Derek J. Spada was born in Kingston, New York, and has handled thousands of personal injury cases since becoming an attorney.  He has routinely handled all aspects of personal injury cases and has earned the distinction of being an especially accomplished appellate lawyer.  

After only four years in practice, Mr. Spada received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer review rating, AV Preeminent.  He has also been named to the Top 100 Trial Lawyers of New York State by the National Trial Lawyers Association; Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers Association; Top 10 Under 40 by the National Academy of Trial Attorneys; Top 10 in New York State in client satisfaction by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys; and recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star.  

Mr. Spada has been appointed to the Character and Fitness Committee of the Third Judicial Department, the Civil Appeals Settlement Program Advisory Committee of the Third Judicial Department, and the Ulster County Board of Ethics.  He has also served as the President and Treasurer of the Ulster County Bar Association.
